About Sal

Growing up on a self-sufficient farm connected Sal with nature; the rising of the sun, the crow of the rooster before the rising of the sun, mandarins ripening in the orchard, a new seedling down by the water trough, the hatching of chickens in the machinery shed, Venus the first star to appear in the evening, or the last star remaining before dawn.

As soon as she could stand Sal was on a stool beside her mother in the kitchen; stirring, mixing and tasting home-baked goodies. By the age of 10 she was cooking whole meals from scratch for her family.

Nicknamed “Salad” at primary school for consuming whole meal sandwiches stuffed with lettuce & alfalfa sprouts, it is no surprise that Sal pursued health & nutritional studies as a secondary school student.

The sudden onset of debilitating back pain at aged 16 sparked a 5-year journey from one alternative therapy to another in search of answers to chronic pain and subsequent depression. Sal attended her first yoga class at the age of 21, which, one lesson at a time, redefined her life.

A solo journey to India at the age of 25, and a yoga teacher training course with Sivananda Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram in Kerala launched Sal into Yoga Teaching, and further study. In 2004 Sal completed an Advanced Diploma of Health Science (Naturopathy) at the Australian College of Natural Medicine (ACNM) in Brisbane.

Sal relocated back to nature in 2007 and lives in Northern NSW, where she facilitates healing retreats, detoxification programmes, offers individual consultations, massage & reflexology treatments, yoga instruction, and a retreat catering service.
